Like the Chambertin, this is both ripe and brooding with slightly riper aromas of roasted plum, black cherry and warm earth, all of which is trimmed in enough wood to notice. The caressing yet powerful big-bodied flavors flash good muscle on the raspy and somewhat short if very firm finish. This may well age out, but the balance isn’t nearly as well dialed in compared to the best of these grands crus.
