A brooding and very reserved nose features aromas of dark berry fruit liqueur along with plenty of earth and underbrush nuances that are trimmed in just enough wood to notice. There is excellent phenolic maturity to the supporting tannins that shape the suave, round and seductively textured flavors that possess excellent mid-palate concentration along with outstanding persistence. This is not an especially big Charmes but it’s deceptively structured as the mid-palate seems quite forward yet the finish tightens up substantially while still remaining impeccably well-balanced. Good stuff and because of the velvety palate feel, it’s a wine that could be enjoyed young too if desired. 93/2024+
